Dust2 is Back in CS:GO
One of the most iconic maps in FPS history, Dust2, is back into play. The map was initially removed from the game in February. Back then, Valve promised to deliver a brand new, refined Dust2. And now, they have delivered.
Players that participated in the beta stage already had a chance of playing it, but for the rest of us, this is the first look of the new Dust2. It comes with vastly improved visuals that bring it up to modern standards, as well as some minor tweaks that change some plays on the map.
Around Bombsite B, there have been numerous tweaks. The most important ones are the wider Window and simplified Scaffold. This allows for more clear shots towards CT Mid. Additionally, Car is now in a slightly different position that allows easier movement around it.
Tunnels have also received some love. In that area, some previously dark spots are now bathing in natural sunlight. This is thanks to the now semi-open roof above.
Rotating to the Bombsite A, we can find some more tweaks. For example, the back wall no longer features the dark double doors. Also, there are no more drain pipes to limit corner peeking from Catwalk. The cars that used to be at Long A are now a single car that features improved player flow. This way, players are less likely to get trapped behind it.
In Mid, there have been a number of changes. A few props are now in different positions and the shape of the doorways is now different to make them smoother.
Other than all of the changes above, Valve has also introduced brand new aesthetics to the map. They make it look like something from the current generation, which is a very welcome change to the visually cluttered Dust2 we had before.
There are new player models for the terrorist side too. We’re not entirely sure if we like them yet because they look far more cartoonish than before, but they are also sleeker and in line with the overall visuals of the map.
