Reverie is a 90s Style RPG Coming to PS4 and PS Vita in 2018
Among the many AAA titles launching every month, it is easy to miss some of the diamonds in the rough indie scene. Reverie is one of those diamonds. It is a 90s style RPG by the indie New Zealand studio Rainbite. Their games have yet to make a splash, but we believe that Reverie might actually help with that.
The title draws inspiration from Earthbound and it will launch for PlayStation 4 and PS Vita next year. The Vita release will be the first to land in Q1 2018, with the PS4 version following soon after.
Reverie takes place on a fictional island in New Zealand. It will put you in the shoes of Tai. He’s a young boy that set off to Toromi Island for his summer holiday. There, you will have to “calm angry spirits threatening the safety of the land’s inhabitants.” If we weren’t sold before, the opportunity to take care of some hot-tempered spectres definitely convinced us to buy the game upon release.
Judging by the GIFs included in the official press release, as well as the launch trailers, the game will feature simple, yet pleasing 2D graphics. The 90s vibe is definitely there and the world looks pleasant and colourful. We would definitely love to take a better look for ourselves next year.
In the meantime, check out the trailer below. Also, don’t forget to read the press release for yourself.
